The Oaxacan Program

A Life-expanding Flying Trip

Tour Dates: November 19th-26th, 2023

The magical part of traveling to fly is getting to experience a culture with local connections. We want to bring that experience to you. Our Oaxaca trip is limited to 12 friends, and we will fly when it’s good, but this trip will also focus on cherishing the cultural experiences that a place like Oaxaca provides. We will dine with knowledge and participate in the culture armed with local insight.

  • A pilot flying over the mountains and city of Oaxaca, Mexico.

    The Flying

The launch is on a manicured slope overlooking the main valley that Oaxaca City sits in. It is flyable nearly every day this time of year and it’s possible to fly 50-100km in several directions including one where we land at the bottom of an old site of antiquity, Monte Alban, which dates to 500 BC.

  • A beautiful and colorful room at the hotel, El Diabol y Sandia in Oaxaca, Mexico

    The Lodging

We will stay at a pilot-owned hotel, El Diablo y La Sandia, in a great location within walking distance to the great neighborhoods of Oaxaca. Breakfast is included and singles are available at an additional cost.

A local working a food market stand selling tortillas, chicken, and other local cuisine.

Traveling with a classically trained Mexican chef, a local Oaxacan pilot, and a world-class eater will offer us a passport into the best cuisine Oaxaca has to offer—including their famous seven moles! We will dine at locations ranging from street-food bazaars to Michelin-worthy restaurants.

The Food

  • Oaxaca is known for their street art

    The Art

Oaxaca is a well-known artistic epicenter in Mexico. The tour is just after the Day of the Dead festival which you should come to check out ahead of time if you have the flexibility. Wood carving, textiles, block-printing, and street art surround the city and make any simple walk through town an inspired one.

  • A horse helps with making mezcal

    The Drink

For those who imbibe, we will arrange a private tour of an artisanal Mescal producer and learn what makes Mescal from Oaxaca some of the most consistent and best in the world.

"Nick, Estafano, Chema, and the rest of the Paragliding Guides team put together one of the best and most unique flying trips you'll ever go on. The local knowledge and help the guides provide, both in-air and on-ground, is fantastic and second to none. Great care is taken to ensure that you're meeting your flying goals safely in the beautiful skies over Oaxaca!

When not in the sky, the team has incredible cultural and culinary offers lined up for guests. Dinners at some of the best restaurants in Oaxaca and lunches at local markets give you a tour of some of the best eating experiences in the area. Trips to mezcalerias, local textile producers, art galleries, or just taking in the nightlife in the city plazas round out a complete adventure

If you're looking for an authentic way to see and experience the area you're flying in, look no further than a trip with the Paragliding Guides team."
